Article Summary

Importing a data schema adds data sources, schema properties and associated data types to a template's data model. Using the Import Wizard, you can import from previously saved snippets or a JSON file.

Open the Import Wizard

To start the Import Wizard, first open the template's Data Model from the DocFusion ribbon bar and then click Import in the Data Model toolbar.

Now, using the tabs, select where to import the schema from:

  1. Snippets: A library of previously exported data schema's saved to the local DocFusion repository.
  2. File System: Select a JSON, XML or XSD file to import.

Importing Snippets

Navigate to the Snippets tab and select a snippet from the list. From the toolbar, you can also edit, delete and select a local repository to import snippets from.

Once you've selected a snippet, click Next. DocFusion will prompt you to confirm the import operation. Click Next again.

When the import operation completes, dismiss the Import Wizard by clicking Close.

Now, navigate back to the Data Model pane to verify that the schema properties have been imported.

Importing from File

Navigate to the File System tab of the Import Wizard, then click the ellipses alongside the File Name field to open the File Chooser dialog.

Now, select the JSON file you want to import. Click Open. The selected file name will be displayed in the File Name field when you are returned to the Wizard.

Click Next at the bottom of the Import Wizard. DocFusion will prompt you to confirm the import operation. Click Import.

Once the import operation has completed, dismiss the Import Wizard by clicking Close.

Now, navigate back to the Data Model pane to verify that the schema properties have been imported.
