Copying server templates to local repositories

Prev Next

Copying server templates to local repositories makes a backup of the file on your local hard drive to work on without affecting the original. This guide shows you how to perform the operation using Workbench.

1. Copy the template locally

Open Workbench and login.

Now, navigate to the business unit where the document template you want to copy is located and select it.

Next, drag-and-drop the template into the local directory listed in the Workbench Items panel.

You may need to twirl open the Local Directories node first to locate the preferred local directory.

2. Set the copy options

The latest file version is always selected.
When copying files to local repositories, DocFusion automatically selects that latest available version of the file.

When you drop the template into the destination local repository, the Bulk Items Operations wizard opens.

Decide whether to simply make a copy of the template in the local repository or publish it as well. Make your choice by using the radio buttons in the wizard. Then click next.

You will be asked to verify the operation. If there are any errors to resolve, the wizard will guide you accordingly. Otherwise, click Next.

The wizard also verifies that you are logged in and have the appropriate credentials to copy the selected template.

Click Finish once the template has been copied or published successfully. This dismisses the wizard. You can now find the template in the local repository.
