Editing Smart Part values

The binding, or value, of smart parts can easily be reassigned using the Smart Part Properties. This change will be reflected in the document generated from your template. 

Follow these steps:

First, select a smart part then click Smart Part Properties in the DocFusion ribbon bar. This opens the Properties window. Its configuration options are contextual to the smart part that was selected so you may either see the Source Name or Value field.

To reassign the binding:

Use the dropdown in the Source Name field to view a list of complex entity types from the template's data model. Once you make a selection, it will be bound to the smart part.

Click Save to commit your changes.

To change the smart part's value: 

Locate the Value field in the Smart Part Properties window. It displays the current value assigned to the smart part. 

Click the ellipses alongside the Value field to open the Value Editor. 

You now have access to a variety of tools to reassign or calculate the value of the smart part, including expression, scripts, data sources and more.

Once you're done, click Save.
