Setup a Connected Environment to connect Salesforce app to DocFusion

  • PDF

Article Summary

Connected Environments integrate your Salesforce workspace with DocFusion using OAuth 2.0 security. The configuration process requires the setup of a Named Credential that is issued by an Authentication Provider, then all document automation tasks triggered from Salesforce benefit from this protection. Connected environments can be setup for DocFusion Online or on-premises instances, or for different purposes, like development or production.

Open DocFusion from the Salesforce app launcher and navigate to the Connected Environments page. New installations of DocFusion for Salesforce won't have any saved configurations so click the New button in the action bar (top-right) to create a configuration.

Configuring a Connected Environment

Enter a Name to identify the configuration in relation to specific DocFusion business units, technical environments or other logical ways used by your organization.

Choose a Named Credential from the dropdown to use when connecting securely to DocFusion. New installations of DocFusion will need one to be setup first before it can be selected. Click the Setup Guide link for in-app assistance or refer to Creating a Named Credential for detailed guidance.

Enter your unique DocFusion business unit GUID. Then use the Test Connection link to verify your connection to DocFusion. Errors can be diagnosed using the on-screen messages before retrying the connection. Note that the Test Connection link remains disabled until you update the config. If you haven't received your business unit GUID yet, contact your DocFusion sales representative.

Enable the Default checkbox if you want this connected environment to be used as the default integration between Salesforce and DocFusion. Only 1 configuration can be the active at a time so enabling the default option disables any other configurations that have been set to default.

Debug mode should only be enabled on non-production environments since log messages contain sensitive information. Debug logs are also verbose, which creates the need periodic clean-ups. When diagnosing issues, DocFusion support may ask you to enable debug mode temporarily.

Click Save. You'll be returned to the list of connected environments.

Follow the Getting Started tutorial to add a button to Salesforce and generate your first document.
